Behind the Lens: Stumptown Coldbrew Coffee

I’m SO excited to share this recent test shoot I did with Stumptown Coldbrew Coffee. This one was pure magic, you guys! I had a blast bringing together my love of coffee with a touch of Valentine’s Day romance.

Think about it: coffee is intense, right? It wakes you up, gives you energy, and gets you going. Kinda like love! So I wanted to connect those two themes – that “intensity meets romance” vibe. Like a tantalizing perfume, coffee’s aroma just draws you in… but how do you capture that with cold brew? You don’t have the steam swirling or the rich, dark pour. You have to get creative! And I think we did a wonderful job.

Who is Stumptown Coffee Roasters?

Stumptown is all about quality, from bean to cup. They source the best beans from around the world, focusing on farms with sustainable practices and ethical sourcing. The Vision: Brewing Up Something Special

So, how did this photoshoot come together? It all started with a simple idea: coffee + Valentine’s Day = magic! I wanted to create something that felt luxurious and decadent, but also fresh and modern.

Think: rich colors, soft textures, and a touch of sparkle. We used lots of pinks and golds to create that romantic feel, and the coffee itself just brought that bold, intense energy.

The Setup: Lights, Camera, Coffee!

Photographing coffee can be tricky. It absorbs light like crazy, and we also had to make sure the label on the bottle looked perfect. (It was this gorgeous off-white color.)

We used a mix of hard light and soft shadows to create a dreamy, romantic feel. And guess what? We actually had to take two separate photos – one exposed for the bottle, and one for the label – and then combine them in Photoshop! Talk about technical wizardry!
