GoFundMe’s Celebration at Nixta Taqueria
When the GoFundMe team reached out to me for a photography project for GoFundMe’s Celebration at Nixta Taqueria, it wasn’t just another assignment. It was a chance to capture the spirit of community giving, of kindness, and of course, tantalizing food. GoFundMe has always been a platform close to my heart, having used it myself during a personal family crisis. So, capturing GoFundMe’s Celebration at Nixta Taqueria, a local gem that had raised an impressive $114K in donations, felt like coming full circle.
Sometimes, life gives you the opportunity to be a part of something truly special.
The event was centered around Sara and Edgar, the heart and soul behind Nixta Taqueria. Their story, like many small business owners, is woven with threads of passion, resilience, and a commitment to their community. My mission was to capture the duo in their element – interacting with customers, sharing smiles, and serving their amazing dishes. The day was bustling with energy, and each photograph I took felt like a narrative unfolding.
A Feast for the Senses
I must admit, photographing Nixta Taqueria’s offerings was a highlight for me. The traditional Mexican cuisine, a blend of vibrant colors and rich textures, was a visual feast. Capturing hands reaching for tacos, the steam rising from fresh tortillas, and the glistening sauces were more than just food photography. It was capturing joy, culture, and the love that goes into each dish.
Embracing the Light
The outdoor setting of the event was a photographer’s delight. The natural light was abundant, and the clear sky provided a perfect backdrop. I played with the hard light to create contrasts and highlight textures. The shadows and light danced together, creating an immaculate canvas for this beautiful day of community celebration.
