Inside a Photography Shoot With CAVA

How I got the photo shoot with CAVA.

CAVA’s marketing team contacted me and asked to do a photo shoot with CAVA for their new location in San Antonio. They needed interior, exterior, and photos of their team. And they needed the shots by the end of the next day. Eeek! But I couldn’t say no. After receiving confirmation, I hopped into my car with my camera bag and equipment and made the trip to San Antonio. I had no clue what to expect, but it was a magical day.

The photoshoot breakdown.

On the day of the shoot, I got to the restaurant early to set up. I kept things light and mobile. I took one light stand and one Godox flash with me. We started shooting right away when everyone arrived and had such a great time. The CAVA team was really fun to work with, and the photos turned out great. For this photoshoot, I photographed the team to show off the photography style of their website.

We had an idea of what we wanted to do but only a rough sketch at best. I love when this happens, as this is when we can really let our creativity go and make something fun and different.

How I work when I’m on a tight schedule.

I’ve been a photographer for 6 years now, and one thing I’ve learned is that you can never be too prepared. I’m always looking for new tools to help me get the job done faster, better, and with more inspiration.

When I’m on a tight deadline, I take a minute to make a quick plan. I need a general compass to stay focused on the task. I also keep a shot list template that I take to every shoot. It’s great for planning a shoot when you’re in a pinch. When I arrive at the location, I quickly scout out the scene and decide on the best shooting spots based on my shot list.
